Planning your wedding stationery is a joyful early task in the wedding planning process, choosing your colours and textures and all the gorgeous finishing touches. But many couples also get stuck wondering how much it actually all costs. If you're trying to navigate wedding invitation costs and setting a realistic wedding stationery budget, then I'm here to help!
Average costs by stationery item type
You can find my price guide here for all my wedding stationery items. Every wedding is different and as you'll see on the guide, the prices are dependent on the quantity of items ordered. I cover everything from save the dates all the way through to the items on the wedding day itself. It helps to mention the stationery timings here too.... I recommend sending save the date cards 12-18 months before the wedding day, the wedding invitation 6-9 months before with an RSVP deadline of 12 weeks before. For on the day items, I typically start working on them 8-10 weeks before the big day. It's important to note, the design, print and delivery process typically takes 3-4 weeks.

What affects Wedding stationery costs?
There are several factors including the printing method, digital printing is more budget friendly whereas letterpress or foils adds a touch of luxe but with additional cost. Paper quality is another factor, thicker, textures or handmade paper will increase the cost. The complexity of the design impacts the cost- bespoke monograms, custom illustrations or layered cards will need more budget. Your final quantity of course impacts the price too! But remember you're sending invites to couples/families, not per person.

Are there any budget friendly alternatives?
Of course! You can save on the budget withour sacrificing style. A savvy way is to opt to send the wedding invitation digitally, rather than print and post them out. You can choose a straightforward design from one of the collections and not add any finishing touches. For the on the day stationery items you can go as big as you like, or keep things paired back. I design my wedding stationery in wedding collections and you can choose your favourite as a starting point.

When to splurge vs save
The main wedding invitiation is where I suggest couples focus their budget on. Its the first glimpse of your big day with all the wedding details so sets the tone beautifully. There are plenty of ways to save on stationery for the on the day items, such as a wedding menu per table or a combined place name and menu. But nothing beats the excitement of guests reading all the details of the day on a stylish wedding invitation.
