The wedding invitation sets the scene and gives your guests the first impression of your big day! It’s also the hardest working piece of stationery because it contains all the key information your guests need to know, including the location of the wedding, timings and accommodation recommendations.

At LouPaper, I design the wedding invitation as a suite to include the invite card, the details card and an RSVP. This allows enough room to include all the wedding details but within a stylish and cohesive layout and colour palette.
Typically, the invite card is created with the couple’s names in hand drawn calligraphy, the location and the time you would like guests to arrive.

The details card contains all the finer details of the day such as the directions to the venue, accommodation and transport details or recommendations and information on the dress code if required.

Also included in the suite is the RSVP card. The RSVP includes who is invited to the wedding and a tick box or option for guests to clearly indicate whether they can attend the big day. Some couples choose to leave space for guests to suggest a song for the evening too. I recommend to use the RSVP to collect any dietary requirements also. Another option in the invitation suite is to include a self addressed envelope to make the return process as easy as possible for guests.

Wedding Invitation Timings
Ideally, I say to wedding couples to send invitations out 6-9 months in advance, to allow enough time for guests to respond and to chase any guests who have not yet confirmed. This also allows time if you would like to invite other people to attend if you have places available.

Wedding Invitation Finishing Touches
Once you’ve decided on the wedding stationery suite there are lots of different finishing touches which can be added. Wax seals are available in pastels or shimmery metallic tones to suit the colours of the stationery. I can add a bespoke monogram of your initials, or a beautiful venue illustration can be added to the invitation.
On The Day Stationery
For a cohesive style to the wedding, I can provide the on the day stationery such as wedding menus, table numbers or names and guest place names which co-ordinate with the wedding invitation style and colours.
