SAVE THE DATE CARDS: TIMING, DESIGN AND ETIQUETTE GUIDE

Congratulations if you are a newly engaged couple and are starting to plan your wedding day. The save the date card is the first piece of wedding stationery to consider.and is a gorgeous first glimpse to give your guests of your very own big day. Let's start building the excitement!

When to Send Save the Date Cards

I recommend to wedding couples to send their save the date cards out ideally 12-18 months before your wedding date. If you're planning a destination wedding then consider sending even earlier. The key is to get your wedding date in to your guests diaries!

A save the date can be kept really simple and stylish with your names, wedding date and location but there's also fab finishing touches to consider if you want to elevate your save the date cards.

Save the Date Design Trends for 2025

I've seen lots more personality going into wedding stationery throughout this year. Minimal monochrome has been popular, probably because it's timeless and elegant! I've seen an increase in handmade paper used on save the date cards as well as bows on everything!

Some couples will choose to be led by trends but really all that matters is your wedding stationery is personal to you as a couple. Or even your favourite colour!

Digital vs Printed

Digital save the dates are a more sustainable choice, but nothing beats the feeling of opening a beautifully printed card in the post. Many couples combine both with printed for family and key guests and digital for the remaining guests. It's always worth having spares so you can have one as a keepsake too!
