The wedding invitation gives your guests the very first impression of your big day. This important piece of stationery contains all the key information for your guests to know, such as the location, the timings, and accommodation of your big day. However, this doesn’t mean the invitation should be functional and boring! There are so many gorgeous ways to add some luxurious little details to your wedding invitations.
At LouPaper I design wedding stationery as collections from save the dates, wedding invitations through to all the on the day stationery and signage such as table plans, menus and table names. All of the wedding stationery collections can be customised to the wedding colour palette of your choice.
I’ve put together 5 ideas of little details to help style your wedding invitations which you may not have yet considered….
1. A wax seal
A wax seal brings a touch of luxury as your guests open up the wedding invitation. Wax seals are available in gorgeous shimmery metallic tones or subtle pastels to co-ordinate with your stationery colours. I can add on a bespoke monogram to the wax seal or a foliage design just like this beauty!
2. Envelope liners
Not many people consider using the envelope as an opportunity to add some colour but it is a gorgeous detail you can add, especially if you opt for white envelopes. The Chloe wedding stationery collection features a hand painted watercolour envelope liner in navy blue. This wedding stationery collection can be customised to any colour.

3. Venue Illustration
On the invitation itself add a truly personal touch with a hand drawn illustration of your wedding venue, to give your glimpse of where your ‘I do’s’ are taking place. Having a hand drawn venue illustration is an amazing keepsake and can also be added to the on the day stationery items too.
The Ellie wedding stationery collection contains an example of a hand drawn venue illustration on the wedding invitation, combined with gold calligraphy and crisp white card.

4. A vellum wrap or silk ribbon
The invitation suite contains the invite card, the details card and an RSVP card. Rather than have the cards loose within the envelope, consider a gorgeous vellum band or a silk ribbon to tie the cards together.
A vellum wrap such as on the Rosie wedding stationery collection with a hand drawn foliage illustration design is a beautiful finishing touch to a wedding invitation.

Alternatively, a silk ribbon always looks elegant and classic. There are lots of options so you can tie in the colours used on the stationery, for example all neutrals are used on the Olive wedding stationery collection.

5. A pre addressed envelope to return the RSVP
To make it as easy as possible for your guests to RSVP, include a pre-addressed envelope within the invitation pack. They just fill in the RSVP card, add to the envelope and add a stamp. Easy! Hopefully less time for you to spend chasing up the guests who haven’t responded!
Wedding Invitation Samples
If you’re not yet sure of the colour scheme or style you’d like, a good starting point is my curated collection of wedding stationery designs on my website. My signature style is hand drawn calligraphy and there are a range of different designs to choose from, all of which can be changed to different colours or paper types.
There’s also have a selection of wedding invitation samples available to buy here if you’d like to see a particular invitation up close, such as the Ella invitation with copper foil on a green watercolour background.
